The Mercy of God

Romans 10:12-13, “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the Name of the Lord will be saved.”

Oh the mercy of God! How rich is He in His mercy!

It is vital for us to understand the nature of our Heavenly Father. Wrong beliefs about God can hinder our faith and negatively impact our view of ourselves and how we perceive God's view of us. But as we grow in our understanding of who He is, how He works, and how He views us, it strengthens our faith and we become more skilful in His Word and how to walk in who we are in Christ.

In Romans chapters 9 through 11, we can see the abundant mercy of God upon all those who would receive it. God has a plan for the Jews and the Gentiles, and within that plan is each person's choice to be involved in that plan.

The Bible says in Ephesians 2:4 “But God who is rich in mercy…” and in Psalms 103:8-12 that “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities…”

God does not deal with us according to our sinful behaviour, He deals with us according to His nature, and His nature is mercy.

How are we going to respond to His mercy?

Are we going to be like Pharaoh and harden our hearts toward God? Or are we going to be like the Apostle Paul, and bow our knees in humble faith, boldly receiving His mercy and walk in God’s plan for our lives?

The nature of God is mercy, this is the Gospel that we preach.

We preach the Good News, the truth that righteousness is not by our performance, but by faith in Jesus Christ. Righteousness by faith was the stumbling block that the Jews stumbled upon, they were so used to living by their own efforts. But us, when we hear the message of righteousness and the riches of God’s mercy, we don’t stumble over that stumbling block, we build our lives on that stone, and we remain in a continual lifestyle of thanksgiving, knowing that, despite our disobedience, our Great God is merciful!

Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.

Blessings,

Chloe
