The Covenant of Grace

John 1:17 “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

Jesus’ arrival on the earth became the biggest shift in how man related to God. Before Jesus came, everything was performance-based, obedience determined outcome. Protection and blessing were conditional, based on how well people could keep the law. However, when Jesus came, He established the new covenant between God and man. Under grace, we receive what Jesus secured for us. God’s blessings are no longer conditional; God’s blessings are already ours. We no longer have to try to earn protection and blessing; we simply stand in the truth of what Jesus has done for us, in us, and through us.

Problems arise when people try to mix the two covenants. People end up striving instead of standing. People tolerate what they should be resisting, and blame God for what the devil is doing.

Understanding what Jesus has finished for us and what grace has accomplished in us is essential so that we are not ignorant of who we are. When people don’t understand who they are in Christ, they don’t know how or when to stand against the devil when he tries to come steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10) Satan is looking for someone to devour- a Christian who is ignorant of the covenant of grace is an easy target because they don’t know that they have the position, authority and the sword of God’s Word to stand against him.

Let’s not be those people that satan can devour, let’s be those who know who they are in Christ, who know their position, and know God’s Word so that we don’t become an easy target; instead, we stand strong in the victory that Jesus has won for us! Praise God for His goodness in our lives! Because of His abundant grace and His free gift of righteousness, you and I reign in this life!

Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.

Blessings,

Chloe
