The Covenant of Grace
Romans 4:24-25 “It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised because of our justification.”
The Gospel is truly a message of grace. The Gospel is good news for everyone, regardless of their age, gender, culture, background, etc. The Gospel of grace is for everyone and it is available to anyone who would simply choose to hear it, accept it, and believe it.
Grace is an inexhaustible subject because it's as endless as God. God is the God of grace. Throughout human history, it has been God’s desire for us, His creation to understand Him. He has shown His kindness and goodness through His Son, Jesus Christ, who is full of grace and truth. It’s of His fullness that we have received grace upon grace.
Even though God is so rich in mercy and His grace has been so lovingly displayed and available to all who call on Him, there is, within the fallen nature of man, a mindset that is so deeply ingrained into our thinking; works-based righteousness. How quickly we can slip back into an “earning” or a “deserving” mentality. We start with believing that Jesus died for us, and we’re thankful for that, and yet, as time goes on, we slip back into thinking that we have to earn God’s promises and His kindness by earning it. We slip into thinking that sanctification and justification come by our actions.
We need to renew our minds to who we already are in Christ, and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us how God sees us. God’s perspective is the truth, and He doesn’t view us or treat us differently based on our behaviour. He treats us according to His mercy and grace. Just like the Israelites, when they were in the wilderness, God desired that they would understand His love for them, but because of the slavery mentality that was so embedded in them, they filtered God through their past experiences and refused to renew their minds according to the truth of God’s love and mercy.
Let’s not be like the Israelites in the wilderness and misunderstand God’s nature, let’s understand His nature by looking at Jesus: full of grace and truth, who delights to bless us, love us, heal us, provide for us, and lift us up because He is our Father and we are children of promise.
Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.
Blessings,
Chloe
