Not Behaviour Modification but a heart transformation
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.”
In the message of the Gospel is the power of God to transform the heart of a person. When we received Jesus as our Lord, our inner man, our real self, was made completely new. We have become a brand new creation in Christ. By hearing and believing the Gospel message of the finished works of Jesus, our hearts were changed from a sin nature, to a righteous nature. From living in darkness and deception, defining ourselves by our behaviour and self-effort, to living a life where our identity is found in Jesus, we are made righteous.
The Gospel of grace has changed our hearts. A changed heart means a changed life. We can’t transform our hearts by trying to be “good” or by using what the world calls, “behaviour medication”, a transformed heart can only happen when the true Gospel message is heard and believed.
We so often fall into a trap of trying to become something when in Christ, we already are.
We don’t have to become better. We’ve been made righteous before Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
We don’t have to become free from sin. We’ve already been made free from sin. (Romans 6:14)
We don’t have to become holy. We’ve already been made holy in Christ. (Colossians 1:22)
This is the power of the Gospel of grace! It transforms our hearts and from there, our actions change because we understand what Jesus has done in us, for us, and through us!
How wonderful the grace of God is!
Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.
Blessings,
Chloe
