The Prayer of Faith

James 5:15-18 “And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.”

We need to understand that there are different kinds of prayer. (Ephesians 6:18 Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty.”)

Prayer is a vital part of living a victorious Christian life. There is a kind of prayer that the Bible calls the prayer of faith. The prayer of faith is different from spending time in fellowship and communion with the Father. The prayer of faith is when we know the Father’s will in a situation and boldly declare His will over the circumstance.

Jesus said in Mark 11:23, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

In this verse, we can see that Jesus tells us to speak to the mountain. He doesn’t tell us to talk to God about our mountain. When we take what God has already said in His Word, we know His will; therefore, we can boldly declare His will over the situation.

Just like Elijah, he prayed boldly because he knew God’s will about the rain. He didn’t back off from what he said when the circumstances seemed contrary to what he had said; he didn’t change what he said or question God. He was in confident expectation that what he prayed would come to pass because He knew it was God’s will.

We too can have the same boldness. When we know God’s will, we know what His Word says, and when we take what He has said and speak to our situation with bold faith, regardless of what it looks like in that natural, we can give thanks and rejoice because we know that it is done.

1 John 5:14-15, “And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.”

Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.

Blessings,

Chloe
