The Peace of God

Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

The peace of God has enabled us to live a life that is free from worry, anxiety, and fear.

Just like any gift that comes with an instruction manual, we must learn how to walk in the peace of God that is already within us.

As Christians, living in worry and fear no longer has to be the norm for us. The world tries to self-manage worry and anxiety, but Jesus came and conquered worry!

There are different kinds of peace one that the world has to offer, which is based upon circumstances being right, and everything going well, but it is superficial and weak. It doesn’t take long for a troublesome thought or bad situation to come along and steal any peace that someone had.

And then there is the peace that Jesus has given us:

Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.”

The peace that Jesus has given us goes beyond circumstances; it is peace that comes from God that guards us and keeps us, no matter what is happening around us, on the inside, we are at peace.

In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul, by the Holy Spirit, explains to us how we can walk in the peace of God.

Step One: Stop the worry.

We don’t have to let worry come in and take over our minds. We can choose to take a different thought, one that is based upon the truth of the Word of God.

Step Two: We bring the situation to God.

Once we have stopped worrying, we are in a place where we are able to bring faith-filled, not fear-filled, prayers to God. We let our requests be made known to Him because we understand that He is our Source and He is faithful to His Word. We cast all of our cares upon Him because He cares for us. (1 Peter 5:7)

Step Three: We choose to be thankful!

Once we’ve brought our requests to our Heavenly Father, we rejoice and are thankful because we know that He has heard us, and we know that no problem, no bad report, no mountain, no situation is bigger than Him! We can be thankful because we know that Jesus has already won the victory for us, and we overcome because He overcame!

When we have done our part by acting on the Word of God, then we are in a position to live in the peace of God that has already been given to us. God’s peace is able to keep, guard, and watch over our hearts. His peace surpasses all understanding. It doesn’t make sense in the natural why we can be so calm and at rest when we’re in the middle of challenges, but His peace far surpasses human reasoning, and we live in a constant state of peace.

I want to encourage you this week to act on Philippians 4:6 and see for yourself how wonderful it is to live in God’s peace. You will be a testimony to those around you as you remain steady regardless of what is happening around you.

Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.

Blessings,

Chloe
