Alive Unto God

Romans 6:4-7 “Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be rendered powerless so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin, since a person who has died is freed from sin.”

In the first five chapters of Romans, Paul established the truth that righteousness is received by grace through faith. Then in Romans chapters 6-8, he talks about how to live out that righteousness.

When Paul wrote the letter to the church in Rome, he was addressing two groups of people coming from different backgrounds. Those who were once Gentiles were the ones who lived life their own way, without the Law. And then there were the Jews, those who tried to earn righteousness through their own ability, but now that they are In Christ, their identity is neither in their past sin, nor in their works, their identity is in Christ.

This revelation of who we are in Christ is the foundation of Christianity! Even though Paul wrote this letter thousands of years ago, the Word of God is always relevant.

Our In Christ identity means that we are to consider ourselves as dead to sin and alive unto God, and also to consider ourselves as dead to the Law, so that we can serve God in the newness of the spirit.

To consider ourselves as dead to something means that we no longer respond to it. We no longer respond to sin and its effects, and we no longer respond to the Law and its demands.

Satan will use shame and condemnation to lure us back into bondage. He is the accuser of the brethren, and if we yield to his accusations, we will become an inactive Believer.

That’s the Holy Spirit, through Paul boldly declares, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are IN CHRIST.” (Romans 8:1)

We have the legal right to resist guilt and shame. Resisting guilt and shame and declaring who we are in Christ is how we walk in righteousness.

Don’t even for a moment give into the evil thoughts and feelings of the devil, he has no claim on you, since you’re in Christ. Establish yourself in righteousness and renew your mind to how God sees you. When He sees you, He sees you in Him.

Your worth is in the blood.

Your identity is in Christ,

Your place is next to Him in heavenly places.

Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.

Blessings,

Chloe
